As COVID-19 restrictions mean most schools and higher education institutions are cancelling or delaying teaching and assessment events, Australian Science Innovations (ASI) is forging ahead with its Big Science Competition, using the Janison Insights platform. For the past 14 years, the annual Big Science Competition has tested how Year 7 to 10 students apply critical-thinking skills to solve real-world problems and encourages them to go on to have STEM-based careers. This May Janison Insights will allow ASI to offer the competition remotely to the 35,000+ yearly participants, in the safety of their homes. “We want to provide some sort of normality for students,” said Ruth Carr, ASI executive director. “The only reason we can offer the competition this year is because of Janison Insights.”
