Each of the Innovation Sprints in the Global Victoria EdTech Innovation Alliance is allocated a researcher. The researchers will support the teams in developing their research plans, addressing challenges in data collection, and interpreting the results.

Proof of product efficacy is an essential component of any education technology solution in Australia. In the Global Victoria EdTech Innovation Alliance, measuring this is especially important for the success of the Sprints. Through a structured, formal framework, the Alliance coordinates the cooperation between providers, education technology companies and academics to trial technologies that solve and enhance learning outcomes. The program incorporates all the virtues of the triple-helix innovation model. It will extend that model to include the efficacy and showcasing of innovation in the education sector that is an absolute prerequisite to large-scale education innovation.

In order for the EdTech companies to exhibit their export potential, the results must show that they do indeed support learners and educators. Researchers are well accustomed to the nuances of efficacy, evidence, and interpretation. Each Sprint has been allocated an expert research guide who understands how to examine data that is produced from an education setting.

It is fantastic to have research form a core part of this program, and to have this experienced team on board to support this innovative program. There is a high standard for evidence-based education solutions — and researcher involvement contributes to the success in Sprint outcomes.
