The year ahead
It’s March and we’re powering our way through the start of the year. We welcomed our first cohort for the full time accelerator in February, we moved into our new offices at WeWork Pyrmont (if you’re in the area, come and say hi), and we’re planning our first edtech mission to the US in May. Our focus is very much on building a strong and sustainable edtech ecosystem, to drive business growth and importantly, to enhance the learning experience.
We have a full program of activity for the year ahead. Our Accelerator Program includes three streams; a pre-accelerator, full time accelerator and scale accelerator – designed to help startups at three critical development stages. Our pilot programs will see our founding members connect with startups to support the ‘test and learn’ process in a real time market environment. And our extensive program of events includes more of the insights seminars, workshops, hackathons and an annual conference.
Over the past few months we’ve met a number of edtech founders, tech and education experts and we’re inspired by your ideas, your energy and your passion for improving learning outcomes through the power of tech. In a recent press comment, Minister Birmingham reminded us just how big our ambitions can be – ‘We know the edtech sector is worth around $250bn, it’s an enormous opportunity for economic growth, for business growth but of course, first and foremost, it is a valuable opportunity to provide the best resources and capabilities for the students of today and the future.’
Here’s a little more detail on our plans, we look forward to sharing updates as we roll out each program.
We believe Australia has the expertise, drive and collective ambition to become a world leader in the business of education.
